In short: TickerDrop collects nothing. It has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. What you paste is only ever sent to the website you are using it on: your broker, TradingView or Chartink.
What TickerDrop is
TickerDrop is a Chrome extension made by finallynitin. You paste a TradingView watchlist or a list of symbols copied from Chartink, and it adds those stocks to the watchlist on your broker's website, currently Zerodha Kite, Upstox, Angel One, Groww, Dhan, Kotak Neo or ICICI Direct. It can also:
- fill one of your Chartink watchlists, so your scans can run on it;
- copy a list from your broker, TradingView or a Chartink dashboard or scan, in TradingView's format;
- send a list straight into TradingView, as a new watchlist or added to the one you have open;
- undo an import, removing only the stocks that import added;
- empty a list when you ask it to;
- switch to another of your lists on the page when you pick one in TickerDrop.
What it stores, and where
To save you pasting again, TickerDrop remembers a few things on your own computer, inside the extension's local storage:
- the last list you pasted into it,
- the last list you copied with Export, so you can send it on with one click,
- whether the "put each section into its own group" switch is on, and
- whether you last used the Import or the Export tab.
These stay on your device. They are never sent anywhere, and they are deleted when you remove the extension. You can also clear the pasted list at any time with the Clear button.
What it reads on your broker's website
When you click the TickerDrop icon on your broker's website, it reads the watchlist on that page: the names of your lists, the open list's name, how many stocks it holds, the group names and the stock symbols. It uses this only to show you the preview, skip stocks already in the list and put each stock in the right group. It does not read your holdings, positions, orders, funds or account details, and it does not keep or send anything it reads.
On TradingView and Chartink
On TradingView, TickerDrop reads the watchlist you have open so it can copy it. When you send a list to TradingView, it uses TradingView's own Upload list feature for a new watchlist. To add to the open watchlist, it checks each symbol with TradingView's symbol search and then adds the ones TradingView knows through TradingView's own watchlist service, in your logged-in session. Nothing goes anywhere except TradingView, which is where that watchlist already lives.
On Chartink, TickerDrop reads the stock symbols in the tables on the page. When you ask it to fill one of your Chartink watchlists, it hands Chartink's own "Upload stocks from txt/csv" feature a list of the symbols you chose. It changes nothing else on Chartink.
Permissions
- activeTab: lets TickerDrop work on the tab you are looking at, only after you click its icon. It has no access to other tabs or websites, and none in the background.
- scripting: lets TickerDrop load its own bundled script into that tab to type symbols into the watchlist search and click the watchlist's Add button. If you choose Replace for a group, it also removes the stocks in that group that are no longer in your list, and shows you which ones. If you confirm Clear, it removes every stock from the open list (on Kite, also its empty groups). If you click Undo after an import, it removes only the stocks that import added (on Kite, also any group it created). If you pick another list in TickerDrop, it clicks that list's tab on the page. On Dhan, it uses Dhan's own Import Watchlist screen to add the stocks. Three small parts of the script run inside the page itself: on Groww, only to read stock symbols, since the page shows company names; on Dhan, only to read how sure Dhan was about each match, so that TickerDrop adds exact matches only; and on TradingView, only to hand your list to TradingView's Upload list feature without a file picker. On Kotak Neo, whose page is drawn as a single picture, TickerDrop switches on the page's own accessibility mode (the one screen readers use) so that it can read the watchlist and press its buttons. No code is downloaded from the internet.
TickerDrop never clicks Buy, Sell or anything that places, changes or cancels orders.
Sharing
TickerDrop does not collect personal data, so there is nothing to sell, share or transfer to anyone.
Changes
